Job Summary

The JM Family College Internship Program is designed to create an opportunity for college students to have meaningful work experiences that tie to their programs of study. As part of this program you will actively contribute to your teams success learn about JM Familys companies and culture while obtaining new skills through learning opportunities networking events and much more.

The ideal candidate will be available to work full-time during the Summer Internship Program (May 26th 2026-July 31st 2026).

Interns will engage in meaningful work and gain insights into specific projects or tasks providing hands-on experience and contributing to various department initiatives. They will learn about JM Familys culture including our core values: Consideration Cooperation Communication Innovation and Accountability. These core values are part of our keys to success and the skills that embody these values are what drive our success as an organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Build data pipelines to Extract Transform and Load (ETL) data from various sources (primary and secondary) into data warehouses or data lakes in support of advanced analytics self-service reporting and strategic data initiatives.

  • Develop test and execute standard or custom queries to evaluate data and develop solutions as required for increased performance and scalability needs.

  • Perform necessary data profiling data cleansing aggregations and normalization to deliver data products that are available for end-user consumption.

  • Participate in data product design reviews with team members as business requirements are translated to solutions. Document and share findings with the team.

  • Learn about key business applications and data to respond to ad-hoc questions and/or requests for information.

  • Collaborate with data engineers BI engineers data analysts business analysts product owner and IT team members as a member of a data enablement product team in the development data pipelines and scripts.

  • Engage in data quality and data validation activities in support of data initiatives as needed.

  • Evaluate opportunities to simplify and streamline existing processes for maintaining efficient use of resources and improving performance.

  • Enforce and adhere to Data Governance practices and standards.

  • Assist in developing design and/or data model documentation as needed.

  • Support ad hoc requests in support of our customers and business leaders.

  • Assisting with daily operations and tasks specific to the role.

  • Contributing to ongoing projects and supporting team efforts.

  • Performing research or data analysis as needed.

  • Completing assignments and reporting on progress.

Qualifications:

  • This is a full-time position with flexible working arrangements.

  • The ideal candidate will be actively enrolled in a bachelors masters or other degree-seeking program at an accredited college or university with a focus in Computer Science Management Information Systems Data Analytics or a related field. Must have completed at least one semester of coursework.

  • Knowledge of SQL and DBMS like SQL Server or similar data structures.

  • Working knowledge in Excel; VBA knowledge is a plus.

  • Strong analytical critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft suite of products (Office 365 Outlook Teams SharePoint etc.).

  • Desire to work on a team delivering data and reporting/analytics solutions.
