As a Utility Inspector you will play a key role in monitoring pipeline and gas distribution activities working alongside contractors to verify that projects are executed safely efficiently and according to industry regulations. This is a field-based role in Southern Illinois focusing on hands-on oversight quality control and regulatory compliance.
This is a field-based role in the San Antonio TX area focusing on hands-on oversight quality control and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and inspect pipeline and gas distribution field activities to ensure compliance with OSHA 49 C.F.R. Part 192 company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
Conduct visual inspections of pipeline and poly gas main installations verifying compliance with engineering drawings codes and industry standards.
- Monitor contractor work and issue stop-work orders when safety or compliance violations occur.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure projects meet all applicable specifications and construction standards.
- Ensure excavation backfill boring pipe installation purging and gas line activation are executed according to safety and quality requirements.
- Maintain detailed records and reports of inspections project progress and any compliance concerns.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and participate in safety briefings (tailgate meetings JSAs).
- Ensure Operator Qualifications (OQ) are met for contractors performing specialized tasks.
- Coordinate with landowners and resolve customer disputes in collaboration with client management.
Lead and support a culture of safety ensuring work is performed following best practices and federal regulations.
Required Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
API 1169 certification preferred.
- Strong leadership abilities and experience working with diverse teams in the field.
Passion for fieldwork safety compliance and maintaining high-quality industry standards.
Compensation for this role ranges from $28 - $34 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
