DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Classified Staff Director of Technology
Status: 210 Days 8 Hrs. / Exempt
Reports To: Superintendent

JOB SUMMARY
The Computer Technical Assistant serves as a key member of the technology team providing technical support and assistance to ensure the effective operation of the districts technology systems. This position is responsible for supporting multiple projects troubleshooting technical issues maintaining computer systems and software and assisting in the implementation of technology initiatives. The Computer Technical Assistant works closely with the Director of Technology to support the ongoing technology program and ensure that staff and students have access to reliable and efficient IT resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance and support to staff students and administrators for hardware software and network-related issues.
- Install configure and maintain computer systems peripherals and software applications.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving system functionality issues to ensure minimal downtime.
- Participate in technology projects including deployment upgrades and implementation of new systems or tools.
- Communicate effectively with vendors staff and end users to address technology needs and resolve technical problems.
- Maintain documentation of support requests resolutions and equipment inventory.
- Support the Director of Technology in maintaining and improving IT infrastructure and security protocols.
- Assist in training staff and students in the proper use of technology resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the districts technology goals.
- Troubleshoot and/or resolve staff and student issues with technology equipment network connectivity and software applications
- Perform periodic preventative maintenance / repair & cleaning for computer and peripherals such as printers telephones iPads laptops etc;
- Backup and control access to valuable data and install new hardware or software applications;
- Apply software application upgrades and patches;
- Assist with the maintenance of the corporate network servers and infrastructure equipment;
- Ensure the corporations data storage and communication are up to date;
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as repairs re: hardware software & equipment;
- Inventory computer essentials
- Provide quality user assistance;
- Training and supporting staff in their use of these systems educate users on the proper procedures and preventative measures to help create a secured environment;
- Training staff on new technologies;
- Create documentation and how-to guides for technology procedures and processes.
- Assist the Director of Technology with the installation and configuration of network hardware including servers workstations printers battery backups switches and routers.
- Support the research evaluation and implementation of new technology systems and solutions.
- Install and maintain classroom and district technology infrastructure including computer setups projectors and data cabling.
- Assist the Director of Technology in developing contingency and recovery plans for potential network failures.
- Track and maintain accurate technology inventory records.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of all technology systems and programs utilized by the school corporation.
- Serve as the program administrator for staff and student enrollment systems including but not limited to Harmony i-Ready Math Clever NWEA ILEARN and ISPROUT.
- Act as the Security Administrator for the Indiana LINK site ensuring appropriate access and compliance.
- Enroll new employees in the Indiana system and manage the assignment of State Personnel Numbers (SPNs).
- Maintain and update the district website as needed to ensure accurate and timely information.
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology Building Principal Superintendent or as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- At least 21 years of age;
- Pass a National Criminal Background & ECPI Check;
- Experience in an educational environment preferred;
- A Certification;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
- Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and working with frequent interruptions;
- Establish cooperative relations in a calm and tactful manner;
- Positive attitude
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment or independently;
- Demonstrate a sincere desire to be service-oriented to the building staff & the corporation staff;
- Knowledge of computer usage and modern office practices;
- Self-motivated and directed with the ability to effectively prioritize and multitask;
- Effectively carry out oral and written directions;
- Confidentiality.
