About the Role

The Children in Care Service comprises social workers and support workers who collaborate to achieve the best outcomes for children and families. The role of a support and assessment worker (SAW) is equally important helping to complete the puzzle of our young peoples care plans.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.

About You

Please refer to the 7 point criteria giving examples of how you meet the criteria below

  • The ability to carry out assessments for example of parents wanting to support their children at home.
  • The ability to carry out Life Story work which helps children in care understand their journey and enables them to move forward.
  • The ability to work as part of a team around the child and share your insights into the care needs of the children
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Knowledge ot Trauma and its impact on children and families
  • Understanding of Equality and diversity and how this may impact on children and young people and their families
  • Very good written skills enabling thorough and clear assessments.

You must also have an understanding of and commitment toequality diversity and inclusion.

In addition we also expect you to shareour commitment to our valuesand will ask you to evidence when you have demonstrated them as part of the selection process.
