Responsibilities
- Performs an evaluation assessing the needs of the person receiving services and sets measurable objectives that are formulated in conjunction with the rehabilitation team
- Administers direct music therapy treatment to provide habilitative and rehabilitative services
- Plans and organizes music therapeutic activities in accordance with patients needs capabilities and interests
- Observes and evaluates patients reactions to various experiences adjusts treatment to achieve maximum results
- Communicates patients needs and progress to the treatment team physician person receiving services family members as applicable
- Consults with and works closely with other disciplines in ways music therapy goals can support patient meeting their Physical Therapy Occupational Therapy and Speech goals
- Observes documents and reports changes in the condition of the person served to the clinical coordinator PM/DCM attending physician and other treatment team members as appropriate
- Provides training to the person receiving services and as appropriate all others involved in that persons rehabilitation. Analyzes and documents the result of any training
- Maintains and submits evaluation treatment and billing documentation in the format and timelines required by the Company facility funding source local state and federal regulations
- Adheres to standards of the Companys Code of Business Conduct policies HIPAA and Corporate Compliance programs and appropriate professional practice standards and applicable state/federal laws
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelors degree in Music Therapy
- Maintains current license as Music Therapist if required by state of practice
- Maintains state license as Music or Music Therapist - Board Certified (MT-BC) by the Certification Board for Music Therapy (CBMT) depending on state requirements
- Knowledge of the various appropriate music therapy activities used for the therapeutic treatment of individuals with neurologic disorders
- Previous post graduate work experience as music therapist is preferred
- Demonstrates effective and professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) or CPR certification in accordance state regulations
- Has reliable transportation and is able to travel to/from multiple assignments/locations daily
