Position Overview
The Project Process Engineer II is a mid-level professional responsible for designing optimizing and managing process systems to ensure efficiency safety and compliance with industry standards. This role involves leading projects that focus on improving manufacturing processes production systems and operational workflows. The Project Process Engineer II collaborates with cross-functional teams conducts technical analyses and implements solutions to enhance productivity and reduce costs. The position requires a combination of technical expertise project management skills and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process Design and Optimization:
o Develop and improve process systems to increase efficiency reduce waste and optimize performance.
o Analyze existing workflows and recommend modifications to improve productivity and quality.
o Perform process simulations modeling and data analysis using tools such as Aspen Plus MATLAB or similar software.
2. Process Engineering:
o Process control and qualification recipe creation and process integration process development and optimization
3. Project Management:
o Plan execute and manage engineering projects focused on process improvements ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
o Coordinate with vendors contractors and suppliers to ensure materials and equipment meet project requirements.
o Monitor project progress identify risks and implement corrective actions to meet project goals.
4. Collaboration:
o Work closely with cross-functional teams including production maintenance quality and R&D to understand and address process-related issues.
o Communicate with stakeholders to gather requirements provide updates and ensure alignment with project objectives.
5. Testing and Validation:
o Develop and execute testing plans to validate process improvements and ensure system reliability and safety.
o Troubleshoot process-related issues and provide technical support during production and operation phases.
o Conduct root cause analyses and propose solutions for process failures or inefficiencies.
6. Compliance and Standards:
o Ensure all processes comply with industry standards local regulations and company policies (e.g. OSHA ISO GMP FDA).
o Prepare detailed documentation such as process flow diagrams P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) technical reports and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
7. Continuous Improvement:
o Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement best practices in process engineering.
o Stay updated on industry trends emerging technologies and innovative methods to enhance process performance.
o Use Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Design of Experiments (DOE) 8D Method Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
Qualifications and Skills
1. Education:
o Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering Electrical and Electronic Engineering Chemical Engineering or a related field. Masters degree preferred but not required.
2. Experience:
o 1-3 years of experience in process engineering with a focus on project management and process optimization.
o Experience in manufacturing chemical processing energy pharmaceuticals or similar industries is highly preferred.
3. Technical Skills:
o Proficient in process design tools and software (e.g. Aspen Plus HYSYS AutoCAD Plant 3D MATLAB).
o Solid understanding of process control systems instrumentation and automation technologies.
o Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and other process improvement methodologies.
o Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. MS Project Primavera).
4. Problem-Solving Skills:
o Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve process inefficiencies.
o Ability to perform root cause analyses and implement corrective actions effectively.
5. Soft Skills:
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
o Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and priorities.
o Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
6. Certifications (Optional):
o Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus.
o Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable.
o Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is an advantage.
Work Environment:
* Office-based hybrid or on-site at manufacturing or production facilities depending on company requirements.
