  • JOB SUMMARY: Under supervision provide required secretarial services in a competent professional and proficient manner while working cooperatively with staff members parents students and the general public.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
    2. Ability to type at a speed of 30 wpm with accuracy preferred.
    3. Working knowledge of general office and business practices and procedures. Prior experience preferred.
    4. Ability to work effectively and communicate with the public students and parents in person on the telephone and through other means.
    5. Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the team.
    6. Working knowledge of the operating practices of the school system preferred.
    7. Ability to use office equipment and appropriate business software such as Microsoft Office.
    8. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    9. Must be pleasant and professional and maintain good attendance.
    10. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Performs office routines and practices associated with a productive and smoothly-run office working as part of a professional team.
    2. Types and produces documents reports and correspondence using mail merge and other relevant work processing skills with computer software for word processing desk-top publishing and spreadsheets.
    3. Greets all students parents and/or general public coming into the office and directs them to the appropriate person or department.
    4. Receives and routes all incoming calls. Greets all visitors courteously determines their needs and directs or escorts them to the proper person.
    5. Processes incoming materials such as mail packages textbooks etc. and distributes to appropriate areas.
    6. Maintains student and/or office records as required.
    7. Assists other members of the team in preparing administrative and/or instructional materials as requested.
    8. Maintains the same level of ethical behavior and confidentiality about the school system and its operation as is expected of all professional personnel.
    9. Maintains a professional and comfortable work area.
    10. Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

    Pay and Hours: This a 10-month full-time position (215 days) with a minimum of 35 hours per week. Queen Annes County Board of Education Support Unit I Salary Scale. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge skills and abilities related to this position.
