Job Summary

SUMMARY

The Production Lead plays a key hands-on role at Northline Seafoods Bellingham WA processing facility. Reporting to the Production Supervisor this position helps coordinate daily operations on the processing floor and ensures production goals safety and quality standards are met. The Production Lead acts as the first point of contact for production crew members supports training and communication and serves as backup to the Production Supervisor when needed.

The ideal candidate is a dependable team leader with a strong work ethic great attention to detail and prior experience in seafood or food processing environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Support execution of the daily production schedule by coordinating personnel and workflow on the processing line.
  • Provide direction and hands-on guidance to production staff to ensure efficiency safety and product quality.
  • Act as backup to the Production Supervisor during absences or shift changes.
  • Monitor production line performance identify issues and communicate concerns promptly to the Production Supervisor.
  • Assist with onboarding cross-training and reinforcing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and food safety protocols.
  • Support compliance with HACCP SSOP FDA USDA and OSHA standards by maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work with maintenance and quality assurance teams to report equipment or product concerns quickly.
  • Ensure accurate recording of production data such as yields counts and downtime logs.
  • Help foster a positive respectful and team-oriented workplace culture.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Working knowledge of seafood or food production processes including HACCP and SSOP standards.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify and communicate production or safety issues effectively.
  • Clear respectful communicator with strong teamwork skills.
  • Adaptable and calm under pressure.
  • Capable of motivating peers and supporting a productive work environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical or trade education preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in food or seafood production.
  • Prior experience in a lead or trainer role a plus.
  • Familiarity with HACCP and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages helpful but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here represent those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The position requires the ability to work extended shifts during peak seafood season and involves frequent exposure to cold wet and humid environments as well as moving machinery. Employees must be able to walk and stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn at all times.
