About the Opportunity

The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders invites applications from highly motivated candidates for a part-time non-benefits eligible SLP Clinical Supervisor in the SPEAK OUT! Therapy Program with the on-campus Speech-Language and Hearing Center (SLHC).

The SLP Clinical Supervisor possesses depth and breadth of knowledge of those areas of screening diagnostic and re/habilitative services education counseling and referrals covered in the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) Scope of Practice. The SLPClinical Supervisor provides serviceswhich comply withthe policies & procedures of the SLHC ensures compliance withmandates ofregulatory agencies(including maintenance of the environment of care infection control HIPAA documentation and annual training) maintains current licensure completes allrequired clinical and operationaldocumentation/formsand participates in any programs or initiatives required by the Clinic Director or regulatory agencies (e.g. performance improvement activities).The primary focus of the Clinical Supervisor is to provide clinical supervision and training to graduate student clinicians for 7 hours/week in the SPEAK OUT! Therapy Program.

Responsibilities:

As a supervisor you will be responsible for the patients your students will work with throughout the course of each semester. You will model observe and teach graduate student clinicians in their 3rd and/or 4th clinical experience to work with patients with Parkinsons disease in the SPEAK OUT! Therapy Program. You will debrief with students to provide constructive feedback to improve their clinical skills and instill confidence as they progress through the practicum. You will edit Treatment Plans Progress Notes Evaluation and Discharge Reports and more to teach students clinical writing and critical thinking skills. You will supervise data collection for an ongoing research study.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum completion of a Masters degree inSpeech-Language Pathology

  • ASHA CCC-SLP

  • Completed a minimum of 2 continuing education credits in the area of supervision as mandated by ASHA

  • Massachusettslicense to practiceSpeech-Language Pathology by the appointment start date

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of clinical experience

  • Clinical experience with adult populations

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience and student mentorship

  • The ability to work well with and supervise students at varied levels of proficiency and skill

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

  • A focus on patient-centered practiceand cultural competency

  • Proficiency with computer technology (e.g. Office365 suite utilizing Word Excel One Drive and email)

  • Excellent organizational skills; can work independently but seeks out guidance when needed

  • The ability to work well with multiple levels of staff students and patients at varied levels of proficiency

  • Relative flexibility with their schedule

Expected Hiring Range:

$32.14 - $45.40

With the pay range(s) shown above the starting salary will depend on several factors which may include your education experience location knowledge and expertise and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
