ABOUT THE POSITION





The Riverside University Health Systems - Medical Center Arlington Campusis currently recruiting for a Building Maintenance Mechanic.This recruitment will serve to fill a vacancy inRiverside.


The most competitive candidates will have experience with:
  • maintaining building structure
  • interior/exterior painting
  • performing rough and finish carpentry work
  • repairing doors locks and latches
  • maintaining HVAC and heating systems
  • maintaining sewer and plumbing systems

Schedule: 2:30pm - 11pm; after training may be possibility of 9/80 at the departments discretion


Incumbents in this class perform preventive maintenance checks to preserve the quality ofCounty facilities and equipment including a variety of mechanical and building maintenance repair work with limited supervision. Under general supervision perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the repair maintenance and alteration of buildings and their electrical and mechanical systems and equipment; and to do other work as required.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Checks buildings and equipment to locate needed repairs or maintenance.

Cleans and performs routine servicing on boilers cooling towers and boiler room equipment.

Operates and services hot water heating systems; installs maintains and repairs plumbing systems; cleans out sewer lines.

Analyzes water used in air-conditioning systems and maintains chemical balance.

Services and maintains electrical and mechanical building equipment and a variety of electrical and mechanical appliances; services and repairs doors gate locks and latches.

Performs rough and finished carpentry work in the repair of existing structures; lays repairs and maintains wood and tile flooring; does interior and exterior painting using brush roller or spray gun.

Services air conditioning equipment; uses arc and acetylene welding equipment in repairing a variety of metal equipment.

May occasionally do plastering grounds maintenance glazing masonry sheet metal roofing tile setting and maintenance of steam heating systems; uses a variety of hand and power tools.

Performs preventive maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment; assists in moving furniture and equipment; determines supplies needed and prepares orders.

May supervise jail trustees or individuals detained in juvenile institutions; may prepare and submit documented incident reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience
Four years of experience in skilled or semi-skilled building trades work in a non-manufacturing or non-assembly environment which included at least three of the following areas: carpentry painting plumbing electrical air conditioning or building plant operation and maintenance.

Other Requirements
Possession of a valid California Driver License: Class C
May be required to successfully pass a SLOC: Sheriffs Level One Clearance as part of the background check process

Knowledge Of
Methods materials and equipment used in building maintenance and repair work; the operation and repair of plumbing heating air conditioning and electrical systems; safety orders of the Industrial Accident Commission dealing with heating electrical plumbing and other mechanical systems.

Ability To
Perform skilled and semi-skilled work as required in the following areas: plumbing heating air conditioning electrical carpentry and building plant operations; read and write English at the level necessary for successful job performance; read interpret and work from plans drawings and specifications; keep records; follow oral and written directions.
