The role as Fire Safety Leader will proactively support the IKEA Supply businesses globally with a focus on fire safety management. You are expected to be a valued business partner that drives for sustainable solutions proactively influences managers and co-workers to establish a solid fire management program that protects life property and the environment.
As a Fire Safety Leader you ensure the protection of life property production & the IKEA brand and the environment by effectively and proactively managing and reducing fire and safety risks across the entire IKEA Supply business. This includes overseeing fire safety in manufacturing units warehouses distribution centers office buildings and during the transportation of goods via various modes such as trucks ships and cooperation with the businesses you secure compliance with Inter IKEA Group policies standards and working methods as well as legal demands within your area.
You will work with the businesses to increase fire risk identification using the risk methodology and to ensure consistency in approach. You will also work in partnership with the relevant stakeholders and management teams in connection with fire safety related topics and decisions. Furthermore your tasks will be:
- Develop implement and maintain fire safety steering documents and working methods that comply with national and international regulations and standards.
- Oversee the installation inspection and maintenance of fire detection suppression and fighting equipment across the supply chain.
- Work with engineers and architects in the design and modification of facilities ensuring that fire safety elements are integrated into new projects and existing structures.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fire safety. Utilize data feedback and new technologies to refine practices and protocols aiming to mitigate fire risks effectively proactively and in a cost-efficient manner.
- Support and conduct investigations into fire incidents to identify root causes and learnings.
Qualifications :
To be successful in this role you we believe you have a combination of the following attributes:
- Degree in Fire Science Engineering Safety Engineering or related field
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in fire safety management
- Knowledge and understanding of global fire standards and local regulations where IKEA Supply has operations.
- Experience of working with manufacturing fire and explosion risks (ATEX)
- Demonstrate senior leadership & management skills.
- Good understanding of change management processes.
- Business professional facilitation and communication skills and able to present and motivate with impact.
- Ability to inspire people by using strong coaching influencing communication writing and listening skills.
- Ability to create implement execute and follow up on plans to deliver outstanding results.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant health safety and security policies standards rules manuals tools and working methods.
- Ability to transfer knowledge.
- High integrity and level of independence lead by example.
- Fluency in spoken and written English. Other language skills where IKEA have operations is a plus.
