Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Metabolism Chemist to join our Analytical Methods & Metabolism (AMM) team and take on the challenge of elucidating the metabolism of active ingredients in crops and processed commodities. Within the role youll apply chemistry / biochemistry expertise to solve how molecules break down in crops to support registration of sustainable crop protection products. Recent example includes TYMIRIUM technology registration which protects crops against soil-borne pests.  Your role would be to serve as a key scientific contributor providing data and expertise to ensure the safety of our active ingredients. Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Independently design and carry out experiments to elucidate crop metabolism within the AMM Experimental Team. 
  • Provide innovative experimental solutions to technical challenges as they arise. 
  • Lead and/or participate in metabolism data reviews for active ingredient teams presenting insights gained from your practical work. 
  • Independently provide expert technical assistance to external suppliers to facilitate technical knowledge transfer. 
  • Manage laboratory aspects including instruments and software while pursuing personal development and training opportunities. 

Qualifications :

What we are looking for 

  • Degree in chemistry/biochemistry/biology-based discipline or equivalent work experience. 
  • Practical laboratory skills in chemical (synthetic analytical) or biological (plant environmental microbiological) settings. 
  • Experience of chromatographic and analytical techniques such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). 
  • The desire and aspiration to grow and develop in a laboratory based analytical and problem-solving role. 
  • Collaborative critical thinker with strong communication skills and the ability to learn and apply new skills promptly. 
  • Understanding of crop metabolism or behaviour of chemicals in a related discipline would be desirable. 
  • Experience in working with radiochemicals specifically 14C would be beneficial.
