Location: Bremerton WA
What Youll Be Doing:
Assists the Machinist/Mechanic in performance of his tasks as directed. Issues and examines tools and mechanical equipment disassembles equipment as necessary cleans parts and does necessary repair work. Shall have basic working knowledge of various hand tools and small portable equipment. This knowledge must be sufficient to recognize malfunctions in the equipment and to be able to localize the defective area for repairs. Must have good knowledge of blueprints and manufacturers specifications to be able to disassemble and repair tools and equipment. Must become skillful in the operation of machines and hand tools necessary to perform repairs in an efficient and economical manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
Major Activities Performed:
- Work phase is normally moderate except for short periods of high activity during severe weather fire or flooding conditions or ship movements.
- Work requires working at extreme heights (infrequent) climbing vertical and inclined ladders and brief periods of strained positions such as kneeling stooping and maneuvering in close quarters. Requires carrying or lifting weights of up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally of 40 pounds.
- May be exposed to sharp edges falls hazardous chemicals and conditions poor illumination and inclement weather.
- Must observe safety precautions and ensure compliance in safety.
- May be to travel up to 25%.
- Complies with Standard Operating Procedures related to duties assigned.
- May be to become forklift operator certified.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- One (1) year of relevant ship machinist mechanic experience under the guidance of a machinist mechanic or relevant experience in the military.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be familiar with tools and their uses.
- A current drivers license and meet the requirements of the companys Vehicle Safety manual.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum requirements plus experience or training in gasoline or diesel engine maintenance. Prior military experience.
Security Clearance:
- Position requires an extensive background check.
