The Radiation Oncology Department is a specialized team dedicated to providing high-quality care to patients undergoing radiation therapy for cancer treatment. Our department works collaboratively with the radiation oncologist radiation therapists physicists and dosimetrists to deliver personalized care plans aimed at maximizing treatment efficacy while minimizing side effects. As a nurse in our Radiation Oncology Department you will play a key role in patient care supporting individuals throughout their treatment journey. Your responsibilities will include managing side effects providing education emotional support ensuring patient safety monitor patient progress and serve as a vital communication link between patients and the multidisciplinary care team. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic patient-centered environment where you will have a direct impact on patients physical and emotional well-being.

How youll contribute

ARegistered Nurse (RN)who excels in this role:

  • Performs plan of care intervention including medication administration specimen collection clinical treatments as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors records and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team physician patient and family.
  • Detects change in patient status reports to appropriate health care team member and utilizes resources as dictated by the acuity.
  • Assigns priorities to the patients problems with highest priority given to problems that are most urgent and critical.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living including personal hygiene elimination nutrition and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care including patient transfer discharge referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age culture condition and circumstances.
  • Insures completion of requests for diagnostic work and support services.
  • Counts narcotics according to policy and procedure.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess a degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.

  • ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.

  • One year of experience preferred
