Analyzes assesses and improves asset integrity reliability and effectiveness of preventative and predictive maintenance based on data collected through Inspection Testing and Maintenance program activity. Performs/participates in inspections reliability incidents investigations rotating equipment reliability analyses optimizations and mechanical integrity reviews; incorporates findings into the asset care strategy.

Manages group and employee work to align with corporate/department objectives. Direct reports are typically individual contributors.

The Port Arthur Lubricants Plant is Chevrons largest lubricant production facility.

This position is responsible for overseeing maintenance activities at PALP ensuring equipment and facility reliability through the upkeep of all operating equipment. The role includes working with supervisors from other departments to identify potential improvements and implement sustainable measures.

The maintenance supervisor is accountable for maintaining the reliability of plant equipment and facilities by managing effective maintenance of all operating machinery.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Provides direct supervision to the Port Arthur Lubricants Plant Maintenance department including union and exempt employees.
  • Provides leadership and guidance for full-time Chevron mechanics electricians pipe fitters welders I/E technicians and other specialized mechanical trades.
  • Provides leadership and direction for resident contractors and other supporting contractors and vendors for maintenance and project tasks as required.
  • Champion and foster the use of SAP/CMMS.
  • Maintains accurate Equipment Lists Preventative Maintenance schedules and assures that Maintenance Work Notifications are completed and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Assures that routine inspections preventative maintenance activities and assessments on plant processes and equipment are completed accurate and documented.
  • Maintain record and data of all equipment including tagging of all equipment and keeping of asset ledger.
  • Ensure adequate equipments spare parts and record of spare parts
  • Assist the Engineers in preparing tender documentation arranging site visits evaluating and recommending contractors
  • Collaborate with Facility HSE Specialist to ensure safe operating procedures are current effective and adhered to. Provides direction in the roll-out and implementation of operational excellence (OE) initiatives.
  • Ensure that all personnel are properly placed and trained.
  • Monitor repair and maintenance expenses. Monitors all aspects of operating costs in area to assure attainment of cost objectives through innovation and controlled spending.
  • Verify that expenses are not overrun note price of jobs awarded check invoices and allocate expenses to the appropriate account code.
  • Actively pursue cost effective solutions and cost reduction opportunities to improve productivity such as maximization of maintenance and engineering resources utilization and overtime control.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associates or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Electrical or Industrial Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in maintenance department.
  • Minimum 23 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate across departments. Proven ability to lead and develop diverse teams.
  • Experience in cost control budgeting and vendor management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate across departments
  • Proficiency in SAP/CMMS for maintenance planning and execution.
  • Strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance practices
  • Familiarity with equipment reliability programs asset tagging and spare parts management.
  • Experience with project management and contractor oversight.
