Job Description
The Sustitute Registered Nurse plays a vital role in supporting the health and wellness of students and staff covering for the regular school nurse at the Waypoint Academy/STAR Program as needed on a substitute basis. This position requires a compassionate organized and proactive professional who can manage daily health needs respond to emergencies and collaborate with educational and clinical teams to promote a safe and healthy school environment.

Performance Responsibilities(include but are not limited to):

Provide direct nursing care to students including medication administration first aid and chronic condition management.
Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Monitor student health status and communicate with families staff and outside providers as needed.
Collaborate with the therapeutic and educational teams to support students IEP health-related goals.
Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation efforts as part of the schools behavioral support team.
Ensure compliance with immunization and health screening requirements.
Develop and implement health care plans for students with medical needs.
Provide health education and wellness promotion to students and staff.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards of practice.

Qualifications

Current Massachusetts RN license required.
Experience working with children and adolescents in educational or therapeutic settings preferred.
Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain).
Knowledge of behavioral health and trauma-informed care preferred.
