About the job

Advantra is partnering with a mid-stage cloud infrastructure startup in Phoenix to hire an Application Developer to migrate enterprise systems to Google Cloud and modernize workloads on GKE.

About the role

You will migrate legacy applications to Google Cloud. The work involves containerizing services setting up Kubernetes deployments and automating infrastructure with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines. You will collaborate with platform engineers to ensure performance reliability and security during and after migration.

Responsibilities

Build and deploy containerized workloads on Google Kubernetes Engine.
Migrate on-premise applications to Google Cloud environments.
Write and maintain Terraform scripts for infrastructure provisioning.
Implement CI/CD workflows using Jenkins or Cloud Build.
Optimize compute and storage resources for cost and performance.
Configure IAM roles service accounts and security policies.
Monitor application health using Stackdriver and Prometheus.
Troubleshoot performance and network issues across clusters.
Work with teams to document deployment and rollback procedures.

Core requirements

3 to 5 years of experience in application development or cloud migration.
2 years of hands-on work with GCP services including Compute Engine and GKE.
1 year using Terraform or equivalent IaC tools.
Proven experience containerizing applications with Docker.
At least one migration project completed to a cloud environment.
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python Java or Go.
Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins GitHub Actions or Cloud Build.
Working knowledge of Kubernetes manifests and Helm charts.
Strong understanding of IAM networking and security in GCP.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.

Nice to have

Google Cloud Professional Developer or Architect certification.
Experience with Anthos or hybrid cloud environments.
Familiarity with cost optimization tools in GCP.
Exposure to monitoring stacks like Prometheus and Grafana.
Experience with API Gateway or service mesh tools.
