Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Unit. The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care for adult patients with diverse medical conditions including those requiring cardiac monitoring and extended observation from the Emergency Department (ED Boarder Unit). This role requires strong clinical judgment adaptability and a commitment to providing patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit including monitoring vital signs managing medications and documenting care accurately.
Care for ED boarder patients transitioning from the emergency department to inpatient status.
Assess plan implement and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Utilize cardiac monitoring systems to identify and respond to changes in cardiac rhythms.
Administer medications IV therapies and manage patient drips and treatments per provider orders.
Document all assessments interventions and outcomes accurately in EPIC EMR.
Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis treatment plans and discharge instructions.
Maintain adherence to infection control safety and hospital policy standards.
Collaborate effectively with physicians nurse leaders and ancillary staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Active New York State (NYS) RN License in good standing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical experience required.
Telemetry experience required.
Minimum 2 years of total RN experience.
EPIC EMR experience highly preferred.
Strong critical thinking assessment and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team-based environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) considered only with significant relevant experience and/or active matriculation in a BSN program.
