Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer with strong hands-on experience in LAN implementation support and Cisco technologies to join our clients infrastructure team in East Peoria IL. The role involves designing configuring maintaining and troubleshooting enterprise LAN environments while collaborating with global IT teams and vendors.
The ideal candidate will possess solid knowledge of TCP/IP networking VLANs QoS OSPF and Cisco switch configurations and will demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving documentation and process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Work independently and collaboratively on complex LAN engineering and support projects.
- Diagnose troubleshoot and resolve LAN performance and connectivity issues.
- Implement and maintain Cisco-based LAN infrastructure including VLANs trunking and switching configurations.
- Provide off-hours support for critical incidents through on-call rotation.
- Collaborate with firewall VPN wireless and NAC teams for cross-domain changes.
- Support infrastructure integration with business partners and vendors.
- Design and implement process improvements for network performance and reliability.
- Follow ITSM change management processes and maintain accurate documentation.
- Provide technical consultation and recommendations to business partners.
- Participate in continuous improvement and standardization initiatives across global network operations.
Mandatory Skills
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or Engineering.
- 5 7 years of experience in Network Engineering roles.
- Proven experience with LAN implementation and support including TCP/IP Ethernet QoS IP subnetting OSPF VLANs and VLAN trunking.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco switches and LAN operations.
- Strong understanding of network cabling (copper and fiber).
- Excellent teamwork communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable Skills
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting for network management.
- Familiarity with DNA Center (Catalyst Center) for automation and monitoring.
- Experience with wireless networking technologies.
- Prior experience working with medium to large enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of ITSM tools and documentation standards.
