POSITION: Project Engineer
REPORTING TO: Project Manager
OVERALL MISSION:
To support and coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure all requirements for executing the works are available inclusive of HSE & QA/QC requirements approvals materials and drawings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee major projects ensuring their execution aligns strictly with drawings plans specifications and allocated budget.
Manage cost control activities and resource planning including budget allocation to ensure overall project performance meets defined objectives.
Ensure project adherence to company policies and procedures including Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Quality and Human Resources standards as well as certification legislation and requirements.
Promote continuous safety awareness among all team members ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest safety standards.
Guarantee that project activities are executed efficiently productively and in accordance with specifications and schedules while seeking ongoing improvements in work processes. Lead project planning scheduling and progress monitoring efforts.
Ensure the effective implementation of Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures.
Maintain a detailed log of key activities issues and meeting notes.
Ensure all company reports schedules and documentation are completed accurately and submitted on time applying engineering principles throughout various project phases.
Manage contracts and monitor monthly valuations.
Estimate direct and indirect project costs.
Coordinate with clients and subcontractors to prioritize work and align schedules.
Collaborate with inspectors to secure work approvals post-testing and address any concerns.
Follow up on non-conformance reports and verify that corrective actions are implemented.
Work with Project Controls and Quantity Surveyors to measure completed works and liaise with suppliers for approvals and deliveries.
Provide regular updates to clients consultants and main contractors regarding work progress required modifications and attend necessary meetings.
Ensure continuous compliance with the project’s HSE plan.
Strive to achieve and surpass business objectives.
Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget securing technical approvals for completed tasks to facilitate timely payments.
Perform additional duties as directed by the Managing Director.
Coordinate with the Quantity Surveyor to measure completed works.
Implement HSE procedures objectives and targets ensuring full compliance.
Execute safety plans to maintain a secure working environment.
Uphold Quality Health Safety and Environmental policies.
Ensure all activities comply with HSE procedures and function effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Preferably MMUP/UPDA certified with 08 years of relevant experience.
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to handle and execute the project schedules as per deadlines.
Ability to manage large Projects and extensive knowledge on Engineering drawings.
Excellent communication and analytical skills.
Good knowledge of project materials and site activities.
Knowledge in preparing material and labour cost estimate. Knowledge in detailed design schematic sketches preparation local authority regulations applicable standards and local market.
Able to work in a high-pressure environment.
Knowledge on MS-Office software suite. Good knowledge in Computer usage like MS Office Work Excel and Power point.
