Job Summary:
The Temporary Accommodation Team Leader is responsible for managing a team of officers overseeing temporary accommodation placements and management in accordance with Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
The role ensures high-quality service delivery to residents maintains compliance with statutory obligations monitors contracts and drives service improvements.
The post-holder will manage either the TA Placement or TA Management team ensuring effective allocation of accommodation handling complaints conducting suitability reviews and supporting the development of innovative housing solutions.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Lead and manage a team of up to 7 officers including review complaint and property inspection staff.
Conduct reviews and assessments of temporary accommodation suitability as defined by Part VII Housing Act 1996.
Allocate temporary accommodation efficiently including daily emergency placements and transfers.
Monitor contract compliance service performance and escalate risks or non-compliance issues.
Provide excellent customer service and respond to resident enquiries and complaints.
Support the development and implementation of new schemes and innovative approaches to housing need.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including social landlords private sector providers and other Council teams.
Use IT systems to record monitor and report on team activity and service performance.
Contribute to policy development team planning and continuous service improvement.
Skills/Experience:
Proven experience leading motivating and developing staff to achieve performance targets.
Knowledge of Part VII Housing Act 1996 including S.188 and S.193 regarding suitability.
Experience in temporary accommodation services and housing management.
Ability to deliver customer-focused services and drive continuous improvement.
Experience in managing contracts monitoring service delivery and ensuring compliance.
Strong communication collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
Analytical and problem-solving skills for performance monitoring and service delivery improvements.
Experience developing and implementing new housing schemes or service innovations.
Competent in using IT systems for case management reporting and service tracking.

Full-time: 35 hours per week (09:00 17:00).
Location: Lambeth Town Hall London.
