Job Summary

MAJOR FUNCTION

Provides Corporate Estimating Support to all districts. Estimating managers are responsible for estimating the cost of projects and materials. They work with a variety of different teams including construction crews purchasing agents and other managers to determine how much it will cost to complete a project or purchase certain materials.

Reports to the Local Regional Vice President and Vice President of Estimating.



SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Embrace companys Core Values in all aspects of the job
  • Manage estimators and assistant estimators
  • Prepare quantity take-offs
  • Determine initial production rates
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
  • Review bids from vendors or contractors to ensure they are fair and reasonable
  • Coordinate with other managers to ensure schedules are met and projects are completed on time
  • Review progress on projects and adjust schedules as needed
  • Estimate materials costs and labor hours needed to complete projects
  • Manage a team of employees to ensure that work is performed efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure that contractors meet safety standards and comply with local regulations
  • Review finished products to ensure that they meet quality standards
  • Keep records of all project details and documentation such as contracts bids and correspondence
  • Develop initial resource requirements
  • Solicit material and subcontractor pricing
  • Establish preliminary project schedules




Requirements


SKILLS KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
  • 10 years estimating cost control and/or engineering experience (at least 4 years estimating experience) in similar facility construction
  • Thorough knowledge of company procedure estimating techniques all engineering disciplines cost control systems and accounts
  • Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts plus ability to coordinate and supervise group work effort
