Work Schedule

There are 2 work schedules available for this job posting:

• Monday - Friday 4:00 am - 12:30 pm (3 openings)
• Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (1 opening)

Schedule preference will be asked at the point of interview and final schedule placement will be determined at the time of hire.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$3461.00 - $3747.00 Monthly ($41532.00 - $44964.00 Annually)

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Position Summary

Under direct supervision the Custodians primary responsibility is to maintain all campus buildings in an acceptable cleanliness to clean and sanitize assigned areas restroom facilities common/public spaces. Work includes sweeping mopping waxing and polishing floors shampooing and vacuuming carpets cleaning windows and glass surfaces as directed removal of trash from buildings and rearranging furniture in classrooms as directed.

Position Information

• Sweep scrub mop wax and polish floors clean classrooms and laboratories shops and locker rooms. Unlock doors. Safeguard buildings and equipment from unauthorized use. Empty wastebaskets and remove trash and empty recycling containers. Assist faculty and students in moving tables chairs and other furniture in classrooms and auditoriums and in assisting in setting up and preparing for athletic events assemblies and graduation addition to that staff and faculty offices will be cleaned according to schedule.
  
  
• Window washing (interior) on all floors exterior first floor only and other designated areas.
  
  
• Other duties asassigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Abilities:
  Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position; use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two-way radios for communication; observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required; perform work involving regular physical activity; and establish and maintain cooperative work relationships. Some positions may require ability to move up to 50 pounds.
  
  
• License:
  Some positions may require possession of a valid California drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

• General knowledge of methods materials chemicals and equipment used in custodial services.
• Experience in custodial or commercial housekeeping and experience working in educational facility.

Environmental/Physical/Special

• Possess a valid California Drivers License; comply with Defensive Drivers Training program requirements if a vehicle is used to travel on official business.

• Must be able to move up to 50 pounds and be able to use cleaning chemicals frequently; may be required to wear distinctive work clothing provided by the University.
