Job Summary

Under supervision selected candidate will direct and is responsible for the work of assigned personnel directed to the maintenance repair and adjustment of all types of elevators and elevator equipment.

Responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:

and schedule work assignments.
elevator repair work; check work progress.
electrical and mechanical instruments to check the quality of repairs.
cost of material and repairs.
requisitions for supplies and tools; responsible for tool and equipment inventories.
safety regulations.
decisions relative to work methods.
records; prepare reports; utilize MAXIMO ORACLE and KRONOS computer programs.
a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties i.e. performing field inspections provide support and on-site troubleshooting.
Elevator Mechanics Helpers and Elevators Dispatchers.

NOTES:
1. NYC DOB and NY State Elevator Mechanic License is required.
2. This position will include roving assignments.

NOTE: IF THIS APPOINTMENT IS MADE ON A PROVISIONAL BASIS PURSUANT TO 65 OF THE NYS CIVIL SERVICE LAW NO TENURE OR PERMANENCE ACCRUES TO AN INCUMBENT IN THIS POSITION BY VIRTUE OF SUCH APPOINTMENT.

SUPERVISOR ELEVATOR MECHANIC - 90769


Qualifications :

1. Six years of full-time satisfactory experience acquired within the last ten years as an elevator mechanic including at least one year supervising personnel engaged in the maintenance and repair of elevators; or

2. Not less than five and one-half years of the experience described in 1 above including the one year of supervisory duties plus one of the following:
A) At least 6 months of closely related experience in the repair and maintenance of electrical or electromechanical control systems or electrical hydraulic or mechanical components of the following: escalators drawbridges aircraft rail cars or mechanical doors; or

B) At least 600 hours of training acquired at a trade or technical school or vocational high school or completed post-secondary education approved by a states Department of Education or comparable governmental agency with a major course of study in mechanical electromechanical electrical or electronic technology or closely related field; or

3. One (1) year of permanent service in the title of Elevator Mechanic.

License Requirements
At the time of appointment candidates will be required to possess a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
