Starr Insurance Companies is seeking an experienced Operations Reporting Analyst with a prior insurance background. The Analyst will be part of the Operations Regulatory Reporting Department and will work in collaboration with various business functions and stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure Starrs data reported to insurance departments and other regulatory agencies is reported in a timely and accurate fashion. The Analyst will also perform general Operations function supporting various internal stakeholders.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for supporting financial / statistical regulatory reporting for US/Canada reporting for all lines of business. This includes accurately completing data calls according to regulatory requirements and submitting them timely to the appropriate governmental agency.
- Clearly document all steps involved in extracting formatting and submitting data to the appropriate regulatory agency.
- Assist in the documentation of procedures best practices and operational guidelines operations bulletins and process changes. Serve as primary point of contact for questions relating to these functions.
- Assist management with implementing process improvements through automation or improved workflow.
- Manage various projects as necessary track progress and resolve problems as required.
- Quickly understand the business issues and data challenges of Starr Insurance lines of business written and propose solutions where applicable.
- Identify and analyze data discrepancies and data quality issues and perform necessary corrections accordingly.
- Working with colleagues ensure issues are identified tracked reported on and resolved in a timely manner.
- Work closely with business partners (i.e. IT Underwriting) to identify items that might impact reporting and make changes accordingly.
- As necessary assist and act as backup for other team members (i.e. meeting coverage action items)
- Perform other assignments as determined by management.
Skills/Experience Required/Preferred:
- Bachelors Degree in related discipline
- Advanced (ideal) Excel skills
- Some expertise or exposure to SQL
- Commercial Insurance and Claims reporting and analytics experience ideal
- Experience with cross data comparisons and reconciliations between financial and statistical data
- Strong analytical skills particularly data analysis
- Strong documentation skills
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to seek new challenges
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities
