The Senior Environmental Advisor plays a critical leadership role in advancing environmental compliance and performance across the Recycling and Kenny U-Pull divisions. Reporting to the Director of Environment and supported by the Environmental Advisor this role serves as the subject matter expert on regulatory compliance ensuring that environmental requirements are integrated understood and consistently applied across all operational levels.
This position requires occasional travel to sites in Quebec Ontario and New Brunswick.
What youre responsible for:
- Serve as a subject matter expert on environmental compliance by ensuring seamless integration of permits across sites supporting internal teams field operations and contractors while streamlining renewal timelines to maintain consistent regulatory compliance.
- Under the direction of the Director lead all permitting activities including applications renewals amendments and non-compliance resolution ensuring alignment across multiple sites.
- Oversee the management accuracy and control of environmental records permits and related documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
Monitor and manage compliance with environmental regulations (e.g. air water waste hazardous materials) including reviewing inspections risk analysis and corrective/preventive actions while coordinating key environmental reporting such as compliance tracking cost performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead environmental projects including site assessments remediation air emissions sampling and risk studies.
- Manage environmental training and awareness sessions including procedure rollouts and toolbox talks.
- Represent the company in community engagement efforts (e.g. Community Liaison Committees) respond to public inquiries and collaborate with emergency response agencies.
- Collaborate with legal counsel on enforcement actions non-compliance events regulatory changes and legal risk mitigation strategies.
Qualifications :
To join our team:
- You have a bachelors degree in Environmental science Environmental Engineering or a related discipline; a Masters degree or professional certification
- You have a minimum 5 years of progressive experience in environmental compliance permitting and program management preferably within recycling industrial or similar sectors.
- You have demonstrated expertise in navigating complex environmental regulations across multiple jurisdictions (municipal provincial/state federal).
- You have proven experience leading regulatory permitting processes audits and environmental reporting with strong attention to accuracy and compliance.
- You have strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple concurrent initiatives and lead cross-functional teams.
- You have excellent interpersonal communication.
- You have demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities
- You have strong computer knowledge including Microsoft applications and web applications.
- You have excellent communication skills both written and spoken in French and English (bilingual).
