Extensive knowledge of AP style writing is necessary in addition to trending style changes. Time management andbasicknowledgeofphotographyareaplustothesuccessoftheposition.

Areportershouldhaveknowledgeofsocialmediaplatforms andongoingeventsinaddition toworkingincontent managementsystems.Training isavailable.

Staffmeetingsandcommunicationforcontentplanningpurposeswilloccur.

This position is primarily first shift and covers meetings events breaking news and more in Manistee County.

PrimaryResponsibilities:

• Writeaminimumof10-15bylinesaweekat leastoneadayenrichedwithmultimediaassets.

• Writeavarietyofstoriesincludingcontentfornewspapersubscribersandnon-subscribers.

• Writeaminimumofonewell-researchedenterprisestoryaquarter.

• Attendatleast onestaffmeetingorequivalentdiscussionadayforcontentplanningpurposes.

• Shoot or attain photos or create other multimedia assets. Prepare and package content for online and printpublication.

• Ability tolearn contentmanagementsystems quickly and effectively with appropriate internaltraining andexternalknowledge.

• Attendance/coverage of local government meetings and events is required on an as-needed basis.

• Revise work to meet editorial approval for publication-readiness including clarity fairness legalityspelling grammar punctuation and style.

• Usemetricstomonitorreal-timetrafficidentifypatternsandmakeinformedcontentdecisions.

• Stayup-to-datewiththelatestcurrenteventsandtrends.

Qualifications:

• Theidealcandidatewillhaveabachelors degreeincommunicationsjournalismorequivalentinexperience and/oreducation.
