The Mandrup group at the Research Unit of Functional Genomics & Metabolism Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology SDU seeks a laboratory technician within the area of molecular cell biology and next-generation sequencing (NGS) to support the laboratory work in the research group and section.

Our research group consist of 25 people and the FGM section of about 100 people including postdocs PhD MSc and undergraduatestudents. Our research focuses on thegene regulatory networks that control the development and plasticity of fat cells. Furthermore we are investigating the interaction between gene regulation and metabolism in e.g. fat cells and pancreatic β- research is relevant for the understanding of diabetes and other metabolic diseases.

As a laboratory technician one of your main responsibilities will be to participate in and help optimize and developour next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflow. This will include sample preparation either manually or by liquid handling robot and running our Illumina NovaSeq instrument and other instrumentsrelated to NGS e.g. qPCR machine and Fragment addition you will be involved in supporting the research projects in the Mandrup Group which will include tissue and cell isolations from animals cell culture and common molecular biological techniques. Finally you will supportthe general activities in the FGM laboratoryand at the departmentincludingassistingwith laboratory exercises instructing students and supervise trainees.

Applicants are expected to have experience with techniques for molecular cell biology preferably NGS workflow. Furthermore you are expected to have good English communication skills.

  • Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflow
  • Optimization and further development of existing applications and assays
  • Supporting the Mandrup group research projects
  • Instruction of technician trainees and students in laboratory work
  • Assistance with laboratoryexercises
  • Support ofthe general activities in the laboratory and the department infrastructure
