Position Summary

The Systems and Data Director serves as a strategic partner and enrollment systems architect within the College of Professional Studies responsible for driving partnership and enrollment success through innovative systems integration AI optimization and comprehensive student support services. As a highly experienced individual contributor and collaborator this role combines advanced technical expertise with a comprehensive understanding of learner needs and AI to create sophisticated data-driven solutions that enhance success at each milestone from initial inquiry through graduation. The Director architects the technological infrastructure that enables the College of Professional Studies mission of accessible high-quality education for working adults. This position reports to the Executive Director of AI Technologies and Strategic Operations and works closely with leadership across all PSC teams. The role functions as a individual contributor without direct reports focusing exclusively on systems architecture data strategy technology and AI optimization.

Essential Functions

Strategic Systems Architecture (30%)

  • Develop long-term technology roadmap aligned with CPS strategic initiatives
  • Lead integration efforts between university-wide systems and CPS-specific platforms
  • Architect data models for seamless flow between operational teams
  • Ensure data integrity security and compliance with university policies and FERPA/GDPR regulations

Advanced Analytics and Decision Support (25%)

  • Design and deploy sophisticated analytics solutions that provide actionable insights across the student journey
  • Develop predictive models to identify at-risk students and enable proactive intervention strategies
  • Create executive dashboards that track key performance metrics for all milestone teams
  • Translate complex data analyses into strategic recommendations for leadership
  • Establish data governance frameworks that ensure consistent and ethical use of student information

Enterprise Systems Leadership (20%)

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for all PSC student information systems CRM and related technologies and AI
  • Evaluate recommend and implement new technologies and AI to enhance the learning experience
  • Lead system configuration and optimization to support the specific needs of each Academic Journey milestone
  • Develop comprehensive documentation and training materials for technology and AI systems
  • Serve as liaison between PSC and university-wide IT initiatives

Process Engineering and Automation (15%)

  • Identify high-impact opportunities for process improvement and automation across the Academic Journey Framework
  • Design and implement advanced workflow solutions that eliminate manual tasks and reduce error rates
  • Develop custom applications and integrations to address unique PSC needs
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing operational efficiency

Cross-Functional Strategic Partnership (10%)

  • Serve as strategic advisor to PSC leadership on technology and data-related decisions
  • Partner with PSC teams to translate operational needs into technical and AI solutions
  • Lead assessment efforts to evaluate Academic Journey Framework effectiveness
  • Represent PSC in university-wide data governance and systems integration committees
  • Collaborate on grant opportunities and special initiatives related to technology and AI innovation

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Technical Competencies

  • Previous experience in a senior technical role within higher education
  • Demonstrated expertise in database management data integration and analytics platforms
  • Advanced proficiency in higher education data systems and experience with enterprise student information systems
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into strategic business value
  • Track record of successful implementation of technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency
  • Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools (Power BI Tableau or similar)
  • Strong project management capabilities with demonstrated success leading complex initiatives
  • Proven track record in systems management and technology implementation
  • Experience with strategic planning
  • Advanced proficiency with Slate/Salesforce CRM and Ellucian Banner systems
  • Strong project management and system integration capabilities
  • Experience with data analysis reporting and database management
  • Familiarity with enrollment management technologies and best practices
  • Previous leadership role in higher education technology or systems
  • Advanced knowledge of CRM platforms and integration strategies
  • Proficiency in working with AI LLMs and tools
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS Azure etc.)
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations and FERPA compliance
  • Familiarity with enterprise automation tools and workflow engines
  • History of innovation in applying technology and AI to educational challenges

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education admissions and/or student services
  • Bachelors degree in higher education administration business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education admissions and/or student services
  • Masters degree in higher education administration business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional certifications in project management operations or related areas

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number

The salary grade for the position is 13.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $95000-$110000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
