Te Kōwhiringa The Opportunity
The Leading Hand is responsible for overseeing and coordinating a team of workers to ensure tasks are completed efficiently safely and to a high standard. This role acts as a bridge between the workforce and management providing hands-on leadership and support in day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and lead a team of workers on-site and be on call as required
Allocate tasks and monitor progress to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
Provide training guidance and support to team members.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Communicate effectively with supervisors project managers and other stakeholders.
Assist with planning and scheduling of work activities.
Perform hands-on duties as required including operating machinery or tools.
Report any issues delays or incidents to management promptly.
Skills and Qualifications
Relevant trade qualifications or certifications (Level 4 Civil Certificate)
Proven experience in a similar role or industry(construction)
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret plans drawings or specifications.
Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
