Job Summary
Join Axpo Iberia to shape battery optimization and energy strategies across Spain and Portugal. Bring your curiosity for power markets and storage and collaborate with a supportive diverse team.
What you will do:
- Analyze and monitor Spanish and Portuguese power markets (day-ahead intraday balancing) to identify value opportunities
- Design implement and maintain battery optimization models (arbitrage balancing participation revenue stacking) with technical constraints (SoC power/energy degradation efficiency cycles)
- Define and execute bidding strategies for batteries and other assets including backtesting simulations and sensitivity analysis
- Collaborate with trading/origination engineering and data teams to deploy robust automated strategies into production
- Document methodologies assumptions and results; define KPIs and track strategy performance
What you bring & who you are:
- Must-have: University degree in Engineering Mathematics Physics or a related field
- Must-have: Programming skills in Python (pandas numpy) and experience with databases/SQL
- Must-have: Advanced Excel skills; experience with Excel macros (VBA)
- Must-have: Basic knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese power markets and balancing services; Spanish language proficiency
- Ideally: Experience with Snowflake; knowledge of price/demand forecasting and battery degradation metrics; Portuguese and English language skills
