About the role

AEMO is currently delivering a significant change agenda to manage Cyber and Operational risk to ensure lights stay on and gas remains flowing; to support the energy industry transition to net zero and 100% instantaneous renewables; and evolving and modernizing the way we work and our foundational capabilities at AEMO.

The DCC- Enterprise Quality and Testing Excellence team provides testing services across portfolios programs and projects to deliver strategic priorities and Digital capabilities across AEMO.

The Test Lead plays a key role in the planning coordination and delivery aspects of projects testing for WA wholesale energy market. The test lead will ensure that all testing is conducted in line with the enterprise quality process and standards and enable delivery of software that is reliable and secure for complex systems as well as help optimise the efficiency of testing deliverables across the WEM projects.

Role responsibilities

  • Leads and drives all test activities for System Integration User Acceptance Non-Functional and Industry Testing
  • Provides authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of test planning and execution. You will adopt and adapt appropriate testing methods automated tools and techniques to solve problems in tools and testing approaches.
  • Selects appropriate testing approach including manual and automated testing.
  • Designs specifies and executes test cases and scenarios to test that systems products and services fulfil the acceptance criteria and deliver the predicted business benefits
  • Identifies improvements in requirements design or specification processes to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of testing.
  • Assess automation requirements and ensure the delivery of targeted automation test scripts
  • Works closely with Release and Environment managers to ensure that test environments are set up with the required data.
  • Shares the progress of the team and individual projects with the wider organisation.
  • Accountable for the delivery of all testing activities and artefacts for the allocated workstream/s within the project/program
  • Ensure tests and results are documented analysed and reported to stakeholders and required actions taken. Highlight issues and risks identified during testing to stakeholders
  • Present walkthroughs of the Test plan Test Summary reports Prepares and emails Test Status Progress reports daily to the project team and other stakeholders.

Experience and knowledge

  • Proven experience in test team leadership including managing a diverse geographically dispersed team.
  • Experienced demonstrated and have knowledge supporting 24x7 Technology Systems
  • Experienced in working with multiple methodologies including traditional incremental (agile) delivery and hybrid
  • Experienced demonstrated and have knowledge of incident problem solving and ability to maintain technical documentation.

Education/ Certificates

  • Degree in Information Systems Technology or relevant discipline
  • Certifications in relevant technologies is desirable (E.g. ISQTB Foundation)
