Job Title: Packaging Engineer I (Contract)
Location: Hybrid Roswell GA (On-site Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
Contract Length: 6 months (potential for extension)
Job Overview
We are seeking a Packaging Engineer I to support packaging development for both new and existing products. This position plays a key role in ensuring innovative cost-effective and sustainable packaging solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and product performance.
Responsibilities

Develop and deliver innovative packaging solutions that balance cost functionality and sustainability.

Continuously improve packaging and equipment performance to meet evolving customer and end-user needs.

Support packaging development initiatives that reduce distribution costs minimize damage and enhance competitive advantage.

Build and maintain relationships with packaging suppliers to stay current on new materials technologies and equipment.

Understand and communicate the impact of North American packaging legislation and standards.
Technical Skills
-
Proficient in designing corrugated carton board paper wrap and film structures.
-
Skilled in developing and conducting packaging tests/experiments to generate relevant data.
-
Knowledgeable in industry-standard packaging test procedures (ISTA and ASTM test standards such as ASTM D4169 ISTA 2 or 3 series).

Experience with TOPS or TOPS 2 palletization software (required).

Understanding of art-to-package design correlation and packaging laws/regulations.

General understanding of material supplier manufacturing processes and distribution requirements.

Awareness of current industry trends in packaging technologies and sustainability practices.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Packaging Engineering Business or a related field (Packaging degree preferred).

3 years of relevant experience in packaging engineering or development.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently and effectively prioritize work.
-
Strong teamwork organization and communication skills.

Expert-level proficiency with TOPS palletization software required.

Experience with ARTIOS CAD preferred.
