SUMMARY
Martin County Fire Rescue is accepting applications for Firefighter Paramedic beginning October 27 through November 23 2025.
*Minimum compensation requires successful completion of Paramedic checkoff within one year of hire.
Firefighter EMT may be considered.

1. Valid Florida State Firefighter Certificate of Compliance issued from the Division of State Fire Marshal*
2. Valid State of Florida (Department of Health) Paramedic and/or EMT license
3. Current CPR Card (Both BLS and ACLS if applicable)
4. Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) certification
*If currently enrolled in Fire School with a graduation date prior to November 23rd please attach a letter from the school with your expected completion date to your application. Valid Florida State Firefighter Certificate of Compliance will need to be emailed to Lauriel Damm prior to being allowed to complete testing.

- Drives emergency vehicles of various types in a proficient manner to and from fires medical calls and other emergencies.
- Operates pumps aerial ladders truck and engine controls and accessories.
- Performs firefighter activities and duties as needed.
- Provides advanced emergency care to sick and injured by administering medication and providing advanced life support measure.
- Responsible for the efficient functioning of the ambulance and actions of the EMT assigned to the ambulance scene control and patient care.
- Conducts regular checks of fire and medical equipment fire apparatus and ambulance to insure adequacy of equipment proper operations of vehicles and sufficient medical supplies.
- Completes records and reports that include Florida Fire Incident Reports Uniform Medical Rescue Report Patient Information Reports and other reports as required.
- Collection of EMS reports and the forwarding of reports to the EMS Division.
- Carries out routine station duties including participation of regularly scheduled drills and training sessions.
- Reports to the Chain of Command for all fire responsibilities and EMS Division for all emergency medical related responsibilities.
- Performs work related to this job description as required.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (Note: The knowledge skills and abilities identified in this class specification represent those needed to perform the duties of this class. - Knowledge of and skill in driving and operating all Fire Department apparatus and emergency vehicles.
- Knowledge of the fire district streets hydrants standpipes sprinkler systems and buildings.
- Knowledge of principles and functions of all firefighting and medical equipment used in the department.
- Knowledge of departmental operating Standard Operating Procedures and medical treatment protocols.
- Knowledge of local fire codes and ordinances.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to exhibit a professional attitude in public.
- Must meet entrance requirements as prescribed by the department.
- Must successfully pass written and practical EMS examination as prescribed by the County Medical Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
Must meet Florida State Fire Standard Council minimum requirements
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:
- Firefighter Certified (current) with the State of Florida required
- Paramedic Certified (current) with the State of Florida required
- Current CPR card required
- Emergency Vehicle Operations Course certification required
- Valid Florida drivers license appropriate for the position required
