Hennepin County is seeking multiple Service Center Representatives.As a Service Center Representative you will provide couples with their marriage license process a new drivers first permit and help residents understand their real estate tax payments. Every day our service centers process hundreds of transactions and each one is unique to the customer. This job may be a match for you if you are customer-focused detail-oriented have good communication skills data entry and time management skills.

These positions will start at $22.66 per hour.

Location and hours:

These positions are onsite and customer-facing at the following locations. Other locations may open in the future.

  • Government Center Service Center: 300 South 6th Street Minneapolis MN 55415

  • Maple Grove Service Center: 9325 Upland Lane North Maple Grove MN 55369

  • Ridgedale Service Center: 12601 Ridgedale Drive Minnetonka MN 55305

Work hours will be Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Hours may change in the future or include additional evening and/or Saturday hours. Work location will be assigned by the hiring manager based on business needs and locations selected in supplemental questions. For each locations hours click here.

The onboarding program may take place at another center (not their home center) due to training needs.

All new hires spend their first three days of employment at the Government Center with the Service Centers Learning and Development Unit. During the first month new hires will complete an onboarding program with that same unit at their assigned service center. Post onboarding there are monthly trainings hosted by our department and our business partners that should be attended/reviewed.

New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

In these positions you will:
  • Provide the following list of services: marriage applications licenses and certificates (including same-sex and opposite-sex marriages); drivers licenses permits and IDs; motor vehicle tabs plates titles and registrations; water craft snowmobile and ATV registrations; birth and death certificates; hunting and fishing licenses; auctioneer transient merchant lawful gambling liquor licenses and precious metals dealers; notary services and notary commission filings; cross country ski licenses; marriage officiant filings; voter registration; and real estate tax payments.
  • Prepare and process various applications/documents for county and state agencies and collect appropriate fees.
  • Provide accurate and complete information and instructions to the public regarding laws policies and procedures and resolve routine customer complaints.
  • Maintain working knowledge of laws policies and procedures to process transactions.
  • Accurately enter data and update records into various county and state programs.
  • Perform cashieringreception desk and telephone duties.

  • Experience:
    • Processing drivers licenses and/or motor vehicle renewals.
    • Providing face-to-face customer service in a high volume fast-paced environment.
    • Using Microsoft Excel Outlook Word or other similar computer applications.
    • Handling money or processing payments.
  • Ability to understand laws policies rules and regulations relating to service center transactions.
Candidates with fluency in other languagesin addition to English especially Spanish are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.

Hennepin County Service Centers partners with the State of Minnesota to provide drivers license/ID motor vehicle registration birth death and marriage records marriage license snowmobile/ATV/boat registration and a variety of other public services to residents. Locations include Maple Grove Brookdale Ridgedale Southdale Midtown Government Center and North Minneapolis Service Centers. Support areas include Vital Records Call Center/Remote Processing and Learning and Development Units.

Certain offenses are considered disqualifying; those are listed in Code of Federal Regulations title 49 section 1572.103.
