Job Summary

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong foundation in SolidWorks GD&T and engineering drawing creation. The ideal candidate will have experience designing mechanical components or assemblies ensuring manufacturability and maintaining high standards of accuracy and detail in drafting and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and modify 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks.

  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure precise fit form and function.

  • Develop detailed mechanical designs for components assemblies and systems.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing quality and supply chain teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.

  • Conduct tolerance analysis and basic engineering calculations to validate designs.

  • Review and update existing drawings and models in compliance with company and industry standards.

  • Support prototype builds testing and design validation activities.

  • Maintain accurate design documentation and revision control.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).

  • 2 4 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and drafting.

  • Proficient in SolidWorks (3D modeling assemblies and drawing creation).

  • Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) standards.

  • Hands-on experience creating engineering drawings BOMs and manufacturing documentation.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of materials tolerances and manufacturing processes (machining sheet metal injection molding etc.).

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with FEA tolerance stack-up or DFM/DFA principles.

  • Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems (e.g. SolidWorks PDM Teamcenter Windchill).

  • Basic understanding of mechanical testing or prototype validation.

  • Exposure to automation equipment automotive aerospace or industrial product design is a plus.
