New World-Class Hospital

Currently under construction on the unceded traditional territory of the Quwutsun People (Cowichan Tribes) the new Cowichan District Hospital is a testament to the deep partnerships and respectful collaboration that make the Cowichan Valley an exceptional place to live work and learn. Slated to open in 2027 the state-of-the-art facility will be three times the size of the current hospital with capacity for 204 beds. It will be British Columbias first fullyelectric hospital built to LEED Gold standards for environmental sustainability.

Designed with input from staff patients and Indigenous partners the new hospital will offer an improved patient experience and promote provider wellness while maintaining a strong connection to the natural surroundings through thoughtful healing design.

The Cowichan Valley

The Cowichan Valley is Canadas only Mediterranean climatic zone and boasts the warmest year-round temperatures in fact the word Cowichan in Hulquminum language is Quwutsun which translates to English as the People of the Warm Land.

Your Qualifications

  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)as a practicing RN registrant
  • Basic life support Level C for general duty nurse positions
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support and specialty certification for Critical Care Emergency and Intensive Care positions.
