Job Summary |
Provides direct and indirect care duties under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse (RN). Performs a variety of invasive and non invasive technical skills and specialized patient care procedures as well as other duties to support 24 hours of hospital operations. |
Job Specific Duties |
- Receives patient care assignment from the registered nurse (RN) in charge. Initiates delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in performing nursing activities.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living to include bathing personal hygiene nutrition and comfort measures changing bed linens and diapers.
- Performs vital signs heights weights head circumference & other measurements and records the results in the Electronic Health Record according to nursing and hospital policies & procedures.
- Renders care to patients in adherence with written protocols under the supervision of the RN and assists with patient procedures such as; venipuncture/phlebotomy collecting and preparing laboratory specimens & phlebotomy according to health system standards Point of Care Testing ensuring EKGs as ordered Bladder Scanning and other duties as assigned.
- Informs RN of pertinent information and/or communicates all significant changes in patient condition or behavior.
- Recognizes accepted priorities for care needs and takes direction for re-prioritizing from the RN.
- Restocks supplies such as gloves gowns linen medical equipment assists with room preparation and turnover.
- Identifies the needs of the patient and provides necessary supplies accordingly.
- Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and promotes/practices cost containment.
- Maintains patient rooms and nursing station clean at all times.
- Provides encouragement support and comfort to patients and family members.
- Assists with transporting patients for special procedures.
- Performs other assigned tasks to promote efficient practice operation and contributes to the provision of quality patient care.
- Greets and welcomes patients families and visitors. Communicates information regarding NCHS services and delivers excellent and timely service and support.

Minimum Job Requirements |
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or EMT/Paramedic active licensure in the State of Florida - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Safety Carerequired within 6 months of hire - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment

Knowledge Skills and Abilities |
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- Strong problem solving critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborates in a team environment.
- Strong time management skills.
- Computer literate.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively work in a collaborative environment and follow the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Nursing Leader.
- Ability to apply principles of evidenced-based practice analytical thinking and service excellence in practice.
