Job Summary: Directs coordinates and supervises the daily activities of clinical nursing services in the operating rooms serves as the laser safety officer and manages a fiscally sound department. Functions in the decision making capacity and leadership role under the direction of the CNO. Directs and/or provides professional perioperative nursing care for an assigned group of patients across the age continuum as needed to facilitate the delivery of services. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment planning implementation and evaluation to direct or provide nursing care. Provides direct supervision leadership and guidance to members of the staff; and may be authorized in the absence of the CNO to make decisions affecting the facility.

Job Duties: - Assign and coordinate staff for daily surgical cases ensuring adequate coverage.
- Serve as clinical expert and resource for circulating nurses & scrubs.
- Monitor OR turnover case progression and instrument/equipment availability.
- Escalate issues to anesthesia and leadership as appropriate.
- Enforce surgical site verification time-outs and safety protocols.
- Support staff education competency validation and adherence to best practices.
- Provide hands-on patient care when needed including circulating or scrubbing.
- Maintain accurate documentation and assist with incident/event reporting.
- Promote a culture of safety teamwork and accountability.
Qualifications: - Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing.
- Current licensure in the State
- Must be able to achieve CPR & ACLS certification within 60 days of employment.
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective
- patient care and to meet documentation standards.
- Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional
- advancement and that of others.
- Previous nursing leadership or management experience is required.
- Is aware of professional nursing standards and performs in accordance with them.
Physical Requirements: - May be expected to lift up to 50 pounds or up to 150 pounds with assistance. May be expected to push or pull 150-300 pounds with assistance.
- Work is of medium demand; walking or standing most of the time while on duty.
- Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required.
- Optimal auditory acuity required. Manual dexterity involving the handling of equipment and instruments or armamentarium is essential to performing assigned duties.
- Physical conditions are clean neat and well-lit. May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgement as to precautions needed to be taken is essential.
- Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced and required by patient care and needs of the surgical team.
- Exposure to limited amounts of radiation hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility.
- Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to the requirements of the daily surgical schedule.
