Responsibilities

As part of our Manufacturing team youll help build the world-class state-of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world were constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means were continually seeking diligent determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles. APD (Advanced Program & Delivery) is a cross-functional team having the primary responsibility to plan for and implement the launch of new vehicle programs at assembly plants.

The Manufacturing Engineer candidate will be a part of this team and be responsible for the following:

  • Deliver Manufacturing Delivery Quality Operating System requirements for your specific Subsystem (Electrical Powertrain Suspension Exterior Interior Vehicle Engineering).
  • Collaborate with Product Development team to generate facility & tooling costs improve quality and reduce labor requirements.
  • Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for high volume assembly operations.
  • Write/modify/maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts.
  • Lead manufacturing assembly builds (DCV TT PP MP1 and MP2) in Canada Mexico & US assembly plants
  • Lead identification resolution and closure of Final Assembly Engineering feasibility issues.
  • Create and follow a master schedule for the design build and implementation of tools in your subsystem.
  • Lead assembly tooling installation start-up and commissioning at the assembly addition support tooling buyoffs @ vendor facilities.
  • Drive Engineering Change implementation throughout the key program milestones
  • Lead identification resolution and closure of all launch product and tooling issues.
  • Develop Lessons Learned from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs.
  • Support Department Safety Quality Delivery Cost People Morale Environment and Innovation (SQDCPMEI) initiatives.
  • Deliver cycle line layouts and work with the assembly plants to have a complete operator/equipment workstation ready for launch
  • Interface with cross-functional activities (Product Development Supplier Technical Assistance Material Planning


Qualifications

Youll have...

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or related degree; or foreign equivalency degree or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
  • Automotive Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred- 3 years
  • Experience w/automotive assembly tooling processes and facilities preferred- 3 years
  • Experience in one or more of the following automotive systems: Interior Exterior Chassis Powertrain Electrical Water test End of Line 3 years
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a cross functional team 3 years demonstrated experience
  • Ability to support launch programs on extended travel Commitment needed for travel to support program needs
  • Strong Project Management skills and result-oriented mindset
  • Strong computer skills (Excel Power Point MS Project etc.)
  • 3D CAD review abilities (Teamcenter VisMockup CATIA or equivalent) 3 years
  • Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles 2 years
  • Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Error proofing
  • Experience in developing application in Power Apps in using Common Data Service CDS SQL Flow Excel and SharePoint.

Even better you may have...

  • Working knowledge of statistics (control charts data collecting etc.)
  • Knowledge in the following Ford software systems: FEDEBOM WERS GSPAS/APT Teamcenter E2KS AIMS JIRA AURORA
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps Power BI etc.) to develop and maintain custom solutions and meet business needs to improve digital transformation.
  • Experience in one or more of the following automotive systems: Interior Exterior Chassis Powertrain Electrical Water test End of Line 3 years
  • Error proofing
  • Experience in developing application in Power Apps in using Common Data Service CDS SQL Flow Excel and SharePoint.

This position is a salary grade 6.
