Job purpose summary

As part of NatureScots statutory legal obligations and following the UK and Scottish Government Design Systems were transforming some of our species licensing services into online licensing services.

Were looking for an experienced positive and pragmatic business analyst to join our multidisciplinary agile team and help shape the future of our organisation. If successful you will support us by delivering user-centric business analysis the first instance this will involve supporting our online licence application service by gathering and understanding NatureScots business needs and transforming them into technical solutions in line with Digital Scotland Service Standards (DSSS) and standards.

Key responsibilities(please refer to these in your supporting statement):

  • Collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders both internal and external to enable NatureScot to build consensus and common understanding of business needs goals and opportunities.
  • Analyse business processes and workflows to identify areas of improvement and model potential solutions.
  • Elicit define validate manage and document functional and non-functional requirements and user stories.
  • Deliver data-driven insights and clearly document and communicate findings to support full-lifecycle project delivery.
  • Work with technical teams to ensure that solutions are robust technically feasible and aligned with business objectives.
  • Conduct quality assurance and testing to ensure solutions meet user and business needs.
  • Have knowledge and experience of working with and within agile teams.

Person Specification Essential

  • Proven experience as a business analyst.
  • Excellent analytical research and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and develop options that focus on outcomes and strategic implications.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrable experience and confidence in managing a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to facilitate and help create successful solutions that meet end-user needs and deliver greater business value and impact.
  • Experience of working with and within agile teams.
  • Proficiency with relevant software and tools (e.g. Github Power BI MS Visio).

Desirable

  • Qualification in business analysis.
  • Experience with PowerBI.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for digital transformation software development web and cloud technologies.
  • An interest in and a passion for nature.

Prerequisites Required:

  • Driving license or other means of transport.
  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK and resident in Scotland for the duration of the job contract.
  • To undertake a Disclosure Scotland application.
  • Although Gaelic language is not a prerequisite it is a desirable skill in support of our commitment to our Gaelic Language.
