Southern University at New Orleans a public historically black university empowers and promotes the upward mobility of diverse populations of traditional and nontraditional students through academic programs teaching research and service to achieve excellence in higher education using various teaching and learning modalities.
This Guard position will be assisting Campus Police for the safety and security of students faculty staff and visitors on a college or university campus. Their primary task is to patrol the campus grounds and buildings to prevent and detect signs of intrusion theft or other criminals activity. Minimum Qualifications
No experience or training is required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Applicants may be required to possess a current Louisiana drivers license.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Provide required services to the SUNO campus community including: walking or driving escorts locking and unlocking of campus buildings according to class schedules and events and providing information and assistance to the community as needed.
- Creating and maintaining a safe learning and working environment for members of the SUNO campus community.
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for assistance. Initiate and coordinate Police Fire and EMS response as needed.
- Monitor campus activities and facilities through proactive patrol and observation.
- Regularly monitor and use critical infrastructure systems including: CCTV systems fire alarm panels automation systems alarms access card systems and parking enforcement systems.
- Identify after hours facilities issues and assist in the coordination of emergency maintenance response.
- Prepare required incident reports completely and accurately for all security and safety related activities.
- All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This will be as an WAE position for 12 months
Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Compensation: $16.00/hr.
