Job Summary

  • Required Masters Degree from an accredited university in Speech-Language Pathology and Communication Disorders.
  • Required Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred or Texas license for Speech and Language Pathology granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
  • Required 3-5 years direct experience as Speech-Language Pathology preferably in the educational setting
  • Knowledge of the administration and interpretation of a wide variety of evaluation instruments.
  • Knowledge and administration of evidence-based treatment of speech and language disorders utilizing both direct and consultative service delivery models.
  • Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer/technology skills (e.g. email electronic calendars keyboarding ability to learn software applications etc.).
  • Ability to concentrate on detailed work.
  • Ability to communicate and interface effectively with a wide variety of district personnel.
  • Must have reliable transportation to be assigned as needed.
  • Demonstrated collaborative work style.
  • Knowledge of state and federal special education laws.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus
Watson Candidate Assistant is here to answer questions about working at Dallas ISD.
  • Conduct districtwide initial speech and language assessments based on referral concerns and make determinations for eligibility for the disability category of Speech Impairment.
  • Score analyze and interpret evaluation results as well as incorporate multiple sources of data to complete Full and Individual Evaluations within mandated timelines
  • Conduct attend and participate in ARD/IEP committee meetings to present evaluation findings assist the committee with eligibility determination recommend appropriate interventions and provide goals and objectives for students needing speech and language services on an as needed basis
  • Provide consultation with educational stakeholders (e.g. general education teachers administrators parents and families etc.) in different settings; collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom-based activities to improve oral and written language skills of students.
  • Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required such as Medicaid progress notes assessment protocols inventory etc.
  • Create a student-centered learning environment appropriate to the maturity and interest of students.
  • Comply with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and TDLR rules concerning the provision of special education related services for speech and language.
  • Maintain professional competency by keeping abreast of current trends in special education laws ethics computer literacy and technology resources.
  • Engage in professional behaviors that reflect integrity accountability and moral standards.
