Credit Control Assistant
Location: Leeds City Centre
Salary: 20000 - 24000

About the Role
We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Credit Control Assistant to join a friendly Accounts team at a well-established Yorkshire law firms Head Office in Leeds city centre.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail a methodical approach and a can-do attitude. Full training will be provided making this ideal for candidates looking to develop a career in accounts within a legal environment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Debt Collection and Credit Control:
- Assisting with the collection of firm debt
- Managing credit control processes
- Monitoring outstanding payments
- Liaising with clients regarding payment matters
- Supporting the wider credit control function
- Financial Transaction Processing:
- Processing financial transactions for the firm
- Checking and posting bills accurately
- Ensuring office client and nominal account ledgers are updated daily
- Taking card payments from clients
- Maintaining accurate financial records
- Compliance and Procedures:
- Ensuring transactions comply with Solicitors Accounts Rules
- Adhering to HMRC rules and relevant legislation
- Following office and accounts procedures
- Contributing to maintaining and improving processes
- Maintaining confidentiality and data protection standards
- Client and Team Support:
- Taking internal and external telephone calls
- Dealing with enquiries in a customer-friendly manner
- Providing assistance to Accounts and Cashiers team members
- Providing cover for colleagues when required
- Supporting the smooth running of the department
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Using Microsoft Office products effectively
- Managing workload efficiently to meet deadlines
- Any other duties as required by the firm
What Were Looking For
Essential Requirements:
- Qualifications:
- GCSE or equivalent Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above)
- Strong numeracy skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and methodical approach
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing by telephone and face to face
- Customer-friendly and effective manner when dealing with enquiries
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong prioritisation and time management skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Good IT skills particularly Microsoft Office products
- Can-do attitude and willingness to learn
Desirable:
- Genuine interest in working in accounts within a legal environment
- Previous experience in an administrative or accounts role
- Understanding of credit control processes
- Experience working in a professional services environment
