Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides the Lighting Department with an expert level knowledge in lighting programming and design realization. Collaborates with other departments and partners in order to fulfill the design intent for Entertainment offerings including Marquee Events Special Events and various Entertainment Venues. Closely partners with the Lighting Designer to achieve a unified vision that meet the approval of Senior Executive Leadership and/or Intellectual Property/Licensor. Responsibilities may include overseeing a crew to install operate and strike a lighting plan as directed by the Lighting Management.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interpret lighting plots as designed. Implement complex lighting systems and program current industry standard consoles for shows of varying complexities under the purview of the Lighting Designer and Show Direction. Apply advanced knowledge of networking and perform electrical power load calculations. Troubleshoot Lighting Systems of varying complexities. Troubleshooting consoles moving lights conventional fixtures networking equipment communication systems power distribution equipment and DMX distribution systems.
  • Ensure proper completion of documentation to capture management of theatrical lighting data and paperwork. Communicate daily updates to the Lighting Designer pertaining to current installation and programming progress document and obtain clarity on any impediments. Communicate with management and the install team to ensure clarity of electrical load and balance. Follow operating standards set forth in existing S.O.P.s as they pertain to the design.
  • Set up operate & strike of equipment including consoles moving lights power distros and dimming systems for various shows and productions. Performs maintenance and repairs of lighting equipment including documentation.
  • Perform job duties as described in non-lead job descriptions.
  • Stay current with changing technology and growing developments in the field of Entertainment Lighting.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy procedures training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Technical school Associates degree or Bachelors degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within the assigned technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Technical Entertainment Lighting.
  • Advanced Programming abilities on various Wholehog OS consoles Grand MA and theatrical ETC consoles.
  • Ability to document theatrical lighting data in LightWrite.
  • Ability to lead crews of four and larger.
  • Understands signal flow and implementation of protocol DMX E1.11 Entertainment Technology USITT DMX512-A Asynchronous Serial Digital Data Transmission Standard for Controlling Lighting Equipment and Accessories.
  • Read and understand and implement a traditional Lighting Plot.
  • Understand common electrical use and practices in Entertainment/Theatrical Lighting.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience within the assigned technical discipline.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Accountable to strictly adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by the Entertainment Department governing the safe operation of all technical equipment.
  • As directed may assist in technical training and implementation of all training materials. Maintains and shares job knowledge and assists in developing Team Members.
