Purpose:

J&J Innovative Medicine R&D is seeking a dynamic and experienced Usability and Device Education Program Lead to oversee and direct programs that enhance the user experience and usability of our combination devices and products. This role will involve driving a user-centric approach throughout the organization from clinical development to post-launch education and lifecycle support. The successful candidate will leverage in-depth user research and innovative strategies to create intuitive accessible user-friendly products and best-in-class educational materials for our internal stakeholders.

You will be responsible for:

  • Program Leadership: Develop manage and execute strategic programs focused on improving device usability and user education. Build consensus and strategic alignment across the organizations for setting program goals objectives and success criteria.
  • Designing and Development Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including the Device Engineering Human Factors and Commercial groups to incorporate user feedback and human factors principles into the product development lifecycle including overseeing and conducting early useability studies and market research.
  • Education and Training: Create and deliver effective training programs and materials for internal stakeholders and partner with our Commercial team to review and improve training and education material for our external customers. The goal of this training material is to ensure a high level of understanding and proficiency with new and existing devices and provide a high-quality user-centric solution..
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor usability metrics and performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of education programs and inform data-driven improvements. Including partnering with key internal stakeholders and establishing product specific program goals objectives and success criteria. Developing balanced scorecards post-launch to monitor the effectiveness of training programs.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Education:

  • a minimum of a BS/BA in Usability Engineering Cognitive Psychology Instructional Design Biomedical Engineering or STEM related fields is required
  • Masters degree is preferred

Required:

  • a minimum of 7 years experience working in the pharmaceutical or life science industry is required
  • Experience in developing training and/or education material for use in the pharmaceutical or medical device setting is required
  • Knowledgeable around FDA and other regulatory agencies expections for content of combination devices labeling and educational material is required
  • Demonstrated ability to apply user-centered design principles in a fast-paced development environment is required
  • Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies is required
  • Experience with usability testing and human factors is required
  • Exceptional communication collaboration and presentation skills with the ability to influence and motivate cross-functional teams is required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required

Preferred:

  • 10 years leading cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment is preferred
