Summary

The Substitute teacher steps in to manage a classroom when one of the regular teachers are absent following provided lesson plans and maintaining a positive learning environment. They ensure continuity of instruction while managing classroom behavior and addressing students needs during the school day.

Responsibilities

Arrive promptly to the assigned school or classroom as needed.
Follow lesson plans left by the regular teacher ensuring continuity of learning.
Manage classroom behavior according to the schools rules and policies.
Take attendance and report any absences to the office as required.
Provide supervision during recess lunch and other activities as assigned.
Adapt to different subjects and grade levels often with little preparation time.
Communicate with students in a clear and respectful manner.
Report any incidents or issues that arise to the school administration.
Leave detailed notes about the days activities including what was completed behavior notes and any other relevant information.
Ensure the safety and well-being of students throughout the school day.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
Follow emergency procedures as outlined by the school such as fire drills.
