Job Overview:
- The Tax Reviewer will be responsible for reviewing tax returns prepared by junior staff to ensure accuracy compliance and adherence to tax regulations. This role requires strong technical tax knowledge attention to detail and the ability to provide mentorship to junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review individual corporate partnership and trust tax returns for accuracy and compliance with federal and state tax laws.
- Identify errors inconsistencies and potential issues in tax filings and provide corrective recommendations.
- Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues and provide guidance to staff and clients.
- Ensure tax returns are completed efficiently and submitted on time.
- Assist in tax planning strategies to help clients minimize liabilities.
- Provide feedback and mentorship to junior tax preparers ensuring their work meets firm standards.
- Stay updated on the latest tax laws regulations and industry trends.
- Communicate with clients to address tax-related questions and concerns.
- Collaborate with the firms partners and senior management on high-level tax matters.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- CPA or EA license required (or must be in active pursuit with expected completion within 12 months).
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in public accounting with a focus on reviewing individual corporate partnership and trust returns.
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
- Proficiency with UltraTax (required) and Microsoft Office Suite; QuickBooks or CCH a plus.
- Strong knowledge of federal state and local tax laws.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work extended hours during tax season.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
