What we are looking for

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical expert consultant with Chemical or Process Systems Engineering background and a strong experience in AVEVA PI (formerly OSIsoft PI) ecosystem. The ideal candidate will support real-time operational analytics reporting and data-driven decision-making across the energy/power utility business.

Key Responsibilities

• Design implement and maintain Operational Intelligence (OI) solutions utilizing AVEVA PI (formerly OSIsoft PI) for global industrial environments
• Develop deploy and support real-time use cases to optimize operational performance and efficiency
• Create and maintain comprehensive reporting and analytics dashboards using tools like Power BI
• Integrate data sources from operational technology (OT) systems into AVEVA PI for effective data visualization and decision-making
• Ensure reliable data acquisition validation storage and distribution across various platforms
• Troubleshoot data quality and connectivity issues within OI environments to minimize operational disruption
• Collaborate closely with operational engineering and IT teams to continuously enhance analytics solutions and use case effectiveness
• Conduct periodic assessments to identify and implement system performance improvements

Qualifications & Skills

Technical Skills

• Experience with PI Data Archive PI Asset Framework (AF) and PI Vision
• Familiarity with PI Interfaces and PI Connectors (for data ingestion from various sources)
• Knowledge of PI SDK AF SDK and PI Web API for custom development
• Ability to develop custom reports dashboards and visualizations using PI Vision and AF
• Strong skills in creating Event Frames Attributes Analysis Rules and Templates
• Proficiency in PowerShell VBScript or Python for automation within PI
• Experience integrating with external tools or systems (eg Power BI SQL OPC SCADA)
• Understanding of SQL PI SQL Data Access Server (PI SQL DAS)
• Ability to perform time-series data querying and optimizatio

Functional/Domain Expertise

• Familiarity with Aveva Data Hub (formerly PI System on Azure)
• Understanding of cloud-based storage and analytics tools (Azure AWS Snowflake)
• Experience integrating PI with Power BI or other BI platforms
• Awareness of IIoT protocols (MQTT OPC UA) and beyond
• Knowledge of edge computing principles and integration with PI
• Understanding of secure development practices and OT/IT security boundaries
• Understanding of operations metrics (OEE downtime throughput etc)
• Ability to gather requirements and build use-case-driven solutions using PI
• Strong skills in translating technical findings into business-impact insights
• Ability to document development and workflows
• Provide training and support for internal users of PI reports and dashboards
• Soft Skills
• Self-starter capable of working independently or as part of a cross-functional team
• Passion for continuous improvement and digital transformation
• Comfortable in agile or iterative development environments
• Proven experience designing reports aligned with business KPIs
• Comfortable interfacing with operations engineering and IT stakeholders

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Process system engineering or a related technical/financial field
• 3-5 years of experience of hands-on experience with the Aveva/OSIsoft PI System with technical and domain expertise
• Demonstrated experience working in cross-regional Power utility environments and fast-paced project teams
• Familiarity with Power BI automation and AI-enhanced workflows is highly desirable.
