Job Summary

3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
Somerset Council are seeking an experienced Senior Inclusion Lead (Grade 8) to join the Children Families & Education Service on an interim basis.
The post holder will play a vital role in reducing the risk of young people becoming NEET (Not in Education Employment or Training) by leading targeted inclusion initiatives coordinating provision and ensuring strong transition support for learners.
This temporary assignment is for 12 weeks working 37 hours per week based at The Crescent Taunton (TA1 4DY).

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Identify and track learners at risk of disengagement exclusion or NEET status through data analysis and professional insight.
Maintain a live register of NEET-risk students and use attendance attainment and wellbeing data to inform targeted interventions.
Coordinate appropriate alternative provision or post-16 pathways to meet learner needs and ensure quality assurance.
Support transitions between Key Stage 4 and post-16 education assisting with college applications interviews and access to careers guidance.
Contribute to multi-agency meetings (TAC PEP reviews safeguarding discussions) ensuring education remains a central focus in planning.
Work with schools colleges and providers to improve attendance and engagement including undertaking home visits and outreach.
Provide guidance coaching and support to school staff on inclusive practice behaviour management and trauma-informed approaches.
Empower young people to have a voice in planning their education and future goals promoting confidence and self-advocacy.

Skills/Experience:
Strong operational understanding of KS4 and Post-16 education systems and NEET prevention strategies.
Proven experience in leading or coordinating education inclusion initiatives.
Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and learner-centred practice.
Experience in multi-agency working and cross-service collaboration.
Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and behaviour support strategies.
Ability to analyse educational data and develop effective support plans.

Additional Information:
The closing date: 02/11/2025.
Must hold an Enhanced DBS full UK driving licence and be eligible to work in the UK.
